Creativity is in my genes. Members of the Lyte family have been artists and poets at least since the 16th century. I spent much of my early life in prison – my father was a prison governor! Hence, I have seen much of the darker side of life and it is no wonder that I embrace brightness and colour.

Having spent many years painting on silk, I have only relatively recently discovered acrylics and am enjoying the freedom that comes with working on canvas. I enjoy using bright, bold and rich colours. I often enhance them by adding metallic lines and enrich them further by including glitter or inks.

I am also a biologist and keen gardener and much of my work has a floral theme. Plants engender calmness and peace. Gardens are happy places and I aim to create art that engenders happiness and soothes the soul.
